How do I download a free version of the Hitachi DVD software?

I'm doing a project for school and I'm using Microsoft Movie Maker. It will let me edit the videos but it won't let me save them. When I looked it up the computer it said the problem was I needed a software from Hitachi DVD or something. Does anyone know where I can find this software and download it for free?
